FORT MYERS, Fla. – A man accused of killing his father will represent himself while in court despite a judge telling him it was a “bad idea.” Matthew Marshall, 33 Matthew Marshall is facing charges for fraud, murder, abuse of a human body and tampering with physical evidence in the death of his father, James, 58. The 33-year-old was arrested when authorities said he was caught using James Marshall’s credit card on the same day he disappeared. Parts of James Marshall’s body were found dismembered in a wooded area near the home he shared with his son at the Island Cove Condos, Cape Coral police said. Investigators found other body parts in a canal more than a mile away. Matthew Marshall requested Internet access in jail so he could do research and print documents to help his defense. But deputies with the Lee County Sheriff’s Office said there is no way for him to use the Internet from jail safely.
