The department said it has brought on a beagle mix named Harley to serve as a therapy dog, working mostly with children. It’s the first time a law enforcement agency in Florida has used a dog in this capacity, according to the department. The idea is to help children feel more at ease when speaking to officers. Harley was introduced at a press conference Tuesday. “For children, I can’t imagine how Harley will not be a huge hit and help in really traumatic difficult situations,” said Nancy McBride, a National Center for Missing & Exploited Children representative.
