CAPE CORAL, Fla. – A fourth person has been arrested in connection with the Monday killing of a 39-year-old man.

Rodney Charles, 18, is facing charges of murder and robbery with a firearm. Jail records list his address as 1927 Hill Avenue in Fort Myers, while the Cape Coral Police Department said he lives at 1342 SE 2nd Ave. Apt. 1 in the Cape.

Assistant State Attorney Andreas Gardiner said in court Friday that Charles “was in fact the shooter that was involved in this particular case.”

Charles, who also has a pending marijuana possession case, remained in the Lee County jail Friday under no bond. His next scheduled court appearance is Sept. 26.

Michael Ivan Webb II, 23; Mariano St. Louis, 23; and David Parker Zapata, 19, face charges of homicide and robbery with a firearm in the case. St. Louis faces an additional charge of burglary.

Prosecutors said Zapata drove the vehicle used in the killing, St. Louis engaged with the victim and Webb helped plan the robbery and hid the gun.

Dayvin K. Johnson was found dead from a gunshot wound at 1216 NE 23rd Terrace at about 1:20 a.m. Monday.

Police termed it a drug deal gone bad. The four suspects drove to Johnson’s home to steal marijuana, and Webb and Parker stayed in the car while Charles, armed with a .22-caliber rifle, and St. Louis went toward the home, police said. Johnson tried to flee and was shot, and St. Louis went inside to swipe the marijuana, according to police.

The suspects then left the scene and disposed of the gun in a wooded area near Matlacha, police said. Detectives later recovered the weapon.
