Immokalee school kicks off classes with improved grade

IMMOKALEE, Fla. – As students across Southwest Florida returned back to school Monday, one elementary school gained county recognition for making huge gains.

Highlands Elementary’s grade shot up from an F to a C. Principale Laura Mendicino said the improvement required a lot of hard work.

“It feels great.” she said. “There’s a lot of hard work that goes in to it, not only with our staff but our students.”
