LSCO: Suspect killed wife, neighbor in Lehigh Acres double homicide

LEHIGH ACRES, Fla. – An arrest has been made in the double homicide that occurred around the time authorities responded to a shots fired call Saturday night, the Lee County Sheriff’s Office said.

Placido Moreno-Torres, 47, was arrested for killing his wife, Amparo, and a neighbor, Ricardo Vaca, who interceded their argument. Deputies responded to 3511 9th St. West at about 9:25 p.m.

Witnesses said they had heard the married couple arguing and gunshots. Vaca was shot when he approached the couple, according to LCSO. Moreno-Torres is also accused of shooting his wife. Both victims were pronounced dead at the scene, deputies said.

Moreno-Torres ran, but was located, deputies said. He is facing charges for homicide and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, according to LCSO.

“The incident was isolated to this address with no ongoing threat to the surrounding neighborhood,” the department said in a statement.
