Man arrested in bizarre Naples child neglect case

NAPLES, Fla. – An 8-month-old baby was discovered before a bizarre arrest landed one man behind bars for child neglect.

Jesse Jeremiah Black, 27, of Tennessee was arrested at 2365 Hidden Lake Court on Saturday before 4 p.m. and is facing charges for child neglect and criminal mischief, according to arrest records.

Fire crews arrived at the property in Naples after hearing about a child being locked in an electrical room, records show. They found the baby on two garbage bags full of Christmas wreaths, deputies said.

Black would not allow fire crews to check the baby, but deputies said he was shirtless and wearing pants that were wet from the knees down. The baby was “crying and filthy (and) only had a onesie on without a diaper,” according to the arrest report.

Black also refused to answer questions and could not provide deputies with a baby bag before the infant was taken away.

He will face a judge June 13.
