FORT MYERS, Fla. — One female student and multiple males had sex in a South Fort Myers High School bathroom, the school’s principal said to Lee County sheriff’s deputies.

The police report said 25 males were seen entering the bathroom Tuesday after school. The girl’s mother is not planning to press charges, the sheriff’s office said.

The students involved have been disciplined, a school district official said.

“The incident this week should not be a reflection on our combined efforts, administration, students, and teachers, to keep our building and students secure and safe,” South Fort Myers High School principal Melissa Layner said in a statement to parents.

“We dealt with student discipline surrounding this incident this week quickly,” Layner added without going into detail, leaving parents and students with more questions than answers.

“There’s always security guards in our hallways,” said student Erin Bollinger. “I just don’t see how that could’ve happened.”

Students at the high school say the entire incident was filmed.

“There’s girls who saw the video once and it is just so disturbing to them,” said student Casey Winn.

The sheriff’s office took written statements from the male students and confiscated a cell phone, which authorities placed into evidence.
