Gator removed from FMB harvested

FORT MYERS BEACH, Fla.- A crowd gathered on Thursday to watch trappers capture an alligator spotted swimming in the Gulf of Mexico near the Diamondhead Beach Resort.

Florida Fish and Wildlife officials say the view wasn’t that uncommon. Although alligators don’t do too well in saltwater for long periods of time, they use it to travel from one freshwater spot to another.

After being removed, FWC says the gator was harvested and stripped of its meat and hide.
