FORT MYERS BEACH, Fla. – Residents and business leaders waited eagerly Thursday at Bay Oaks to hear about planned revisions for Fort Myers Beach.

FORT MYERS BEACH, Fla. – Developer of the controversial multimillion dollar Grand Resort project, Tom Torgerson, announced design changes that get rid of plans for a convention center, parking garage, three hotels and a pedestrian mall.

Torgerson said he still will pursue a hotel with 300 rooms. His announcement was received with a mix of emotion: some business owners are disappointed that the project will likely not attract as many visitors, while other residents are relieved the town won’t be overdeveloped.
