LABELLE, Fla.- Two people died in a head-on collision on State Road 80 near Wellington Parkway Friday morning, Florida Highway Patrol said. Authorities say Nicholas Mankiewicz, 25, of Fort Myers was traveling west on SR 80 when he attempted to pass slower traffic and crashed into Cebert Williams, 55, of Lehigh Acres who was heading eastbound. Both Williams and Mankiewicz attempted to drive onto the south shoulder of SR 80 to avoid crashing but they collided head on, FHP said. The men were pronounced dead at the scene, according to officials. SR 80 was closed for more than three hours Friday morning as officials investigated the crash.
