MGN FORT MYERS, Fla.- A federal jury found a West Palm Beach man guilty of illegally transporting undocumented immigrants in 2015. Yohany Hernandez-Hernandez, 36, faces a maximum penalty of 10 years in federal prison. On May 7, 2015, Hernandez-Hernandez was stopped by deputies with the Lee County Sheriff’s Office for committing a traffic infraction on I-75. During the traffic stop, deputies discovered the undocumented immigrants. Authorities say Hernandez-Hernandez and the undocumented immigrants traveled from a safe house in Houston to Lee County, driving for nearly 22 hours with limited stops. Officials also discovered two other undocumented immigrants had previously been dropped off in other parts of Florida. A sentencing hearing is scheduled for July 20.
