Troopers: Woman walking on I-75 dies after being hit by car

PUNTA GORDA, Fla. (AP) – The Florida Highway Patrol says a vehicle fatally struck a 28-year-old Fort Myers woman who was walking in a southbound lane of Interstate 75 near Punta Gorda.

Troopers say the car struck Sabrina Avrissaint Tuesday night, dragging her a short distance before leaving the scene.

The woman died at the scene.

Troopers are searching for the driver of the vehicle that hit her.
