LEHIGH ACRES, Fla. – Lee County Sheriff’s Office Divers located the body of a 17-year-old boy who drowned in a lake near 2501 15th Street W. in Lehigh Acres on Saturday.

The investigation began at 5:00 p.m. and the body was found at 8:45 p.m. on Saturday.

The investigation revealed several teenagers were swimming in the lake when 17-year-old Elaundre Ahmed Foster began having trouble swimming and went under. His friends tried to rescue him, but were unable to locate him in the murky water.

“One of the boys was crying and making a phone call and I asked him what’s going on, and he said, ‘my friend was drowning,'” Carmen Vazquez, who lives near the lake, said. “They looked like they were in shock, you know?”

Multiple agencies responded to assist in the investigation, including LCSO, Fish and Wildlife, and Lee County EMS.

LCSO says there are no signs of foul play and this appears to be a tragic accident.

One man familiar with Foster called him a good kid who was willing to help out. Gregory Moore remembered needing help around his house one day and Foster lending his assistance.

“He’s helped me around the house and whatnot. Didn’t have to. Just showed up out the blue and I had to work and he’s like ‘You know I can give you hand,'” Moore said.
