IMMOKALEE, Fla. – An aspiring rapper who goes by Young Baker was arrested for having sex with a 13-year-old girl he met on the popular messaging app, Kik, according to arrest records.

Rante Delaford Baker, 21, of Immokalee is facing a felony battery charge for performing sexual acts with a minor after police arrested him Tuesday at the home of the young teenage girl.

Reports show the girl told her mom she had sex in their kitchen with Delaford, an aspiring rapper who goes by the name Young Baker.

The two had conversations through Kik and Instagram and detectives discovered Baker requested nude photos. They later met at a park, according to an arrest report.

Baker told police that he did not know the girl’s age. He was arrested at the girl’s home because he does not have a permanent address and is listed as homeless in official documents.

A woman Baker once stayed with said the rapper does not live out in the streets.

“It’s not like he is this homeless guy out on the streets begging for money,” she said. “He has friends and he stays with people. He was even for a while he did stay with me and he didn’t have a place to go.”

She said Baker may not have known the girl’s age.

“I don’t know if he really didn’t know how old she was. He’s not a creep or anything. They made it seem bad,” she said.

Baker is well known to local crowds by his rap name. He even has several music videos online. Detectives poured through pages of messages sent between Baker and the young girl but it is unclear whether he used his rapping to coerce her.

Baker was sent to jail in Immokalee then transferred to the Collier County jail.

This is the second time in two months that Kik was involved in a crime with young girls.
