FORT MYERS, Fla. – One person sustained life-threatening injuries after a van crashed in to a semi-truck on State Road 82 at Gunnery Road in Lehigh Acres Saturday morning. The incident was one of two crashes that happened in the same area just before 6 a.m. The semi-truck and a Lincoln Navigator were traveling in opposite directions when the Navigator crashed into the semi, the state Highway Patrol said. The driver of the Navigator took off on foot, but was captured. He is being questioned, troopers said. The van then crashed head on into the semi. The driver of that vehicle was airlifted to a hospital with life-threatening injuries. Two passengers were also in the vehicle, but sustained non-life threatening injuries.
