Inmate found dead at Punta Gorda prison

PUNTA GORDA, Fla. – A 34-year-old inmate was found dead Monday afternoon at the Charlotte Correctional Institution, authorities said.

Reginald Davis, who was serving a five-year sentence for a cocaine possession conviction out of Broward County, killed himself, according to two sources.

Davis was three years into his sentence when he was found dead, officials said.

A medical examiner has yet to confirm Davis’ cause of death, which is under investigation.
