Naples French restaurants grieving attacks on Paris

NAPLES, Fla. – People from all over the world have been impacted by the attacks on Paris. Local Southwest Florida French restaurants say the support from their guests have been incredible.

“A customer came in and sat down at a high top table over there and said, ‘you should see what’s happening on TV right now,’ Marc Cauchy, the owner of Cafe Normandie, said.

Cauchy was busy running the restaurant during dinnertime when he heard about the devastating news.

“I was horrified because it was already about 39 lives that were gone.”

As the night went on, the death toll kept climbing. One hundred and twenty-eight people were killed, and dozens of others were injured when ISIS attacked several different locations in Paris.

“You’re not safe anywhere. You can be in a concert, you could be at a restaurant having dinner, you can be doing anything and it can just hit you out of nowhere,” Cauchy said.
The owner of Chez Boet in Naples lived in Paris for a decade and says that part of town is usually very casual and fun. She says she hopes this doesn’t stop people from visiting one of the most beloved cities.

“It’s senseless to me, it’s just hatred,” Lisa Boet said. “There’s nothing that’s logical about what happened.”

Both restaurants say their guests have all been very supportive.

“I found a beautiful bouquet of roses left in front of our door, just anonymously, which was just very touching,” Boet said.

Boet and Cauchy say their families who live in Paris are all okay.
