PUNTA GORDA, Fla.- A man was taken to the hospital as a trauma alert following a gyrocopter crash at the Redneck Yacht Club Thursday afternoon. The Charlotte County Sheriff’s Office says it is unknown at this time if the gyrocopter was in the air and crashed or if the aircraft caught fire while on the ground. The victim, who is around 60 years of age, was transported to Blake Medical Center in Bradenton. The crash caused the fire to spread throughout 5-acres of land but it was quickly extinguished by firefighters.
