Oilers’ McDavid out “months” with broken left clavicle

(AP) — Edmonton Oilers rookie forward Connor McDavid is expected to be out “months” with a broken left clavicle, says general manager Peter Chiarelli.

Chiarelli says McDavid will require surgery after breaking his collarbone in Tuesday night’s 4-2 win over the Philadelphia Flyers.

The first overall pick in this year’s draft was hurt after he crashed into the boards.

McDavid had 12 points in 12 games this season and was selected as the NHL’s rookie of the month for October.
