United Way 2015-2016 campaign kickoff

FORT MYERS, Fla.- The United Way of Lee, Hendry, Glades, and Okeechobee kicked off the 2015-2016 community-wide fundraising campaign at Harborside Event Center on Wednesday.

More than 900 people attended, the largest crowd in the history of the event.

United Way Campaign Chair, David Fry of Vantage Construction Services lead the kickoff which included a campaign overview and the announcement of this year’s Pacesetter results.

Pacesetter companies run their employee campaigns prior to the official kickoff to demonstrate their United Way support and encourage others to follow their leadership.

An epic lip-sync battle among some of this communities best known leaders was the featured entertainment. The battlers included: Jim Nathan, President of Lee Memorial Health System; Joe Catti, President and CEO of FineMark National Bank and Trust; and Mike Jung, President and Publisher of the News-Press Media Group.

The 2015-2016 campaign goal is $9,385,330. Last year the United Way of Lee, Hendry, Glades, and Okeechobee surpassed its $8.9 million campaign goal.

All money raised in the United Way Campaign stays in the local community to help support the local human service network of partner agencies.

In addition to raising funds for 85 human service organizations and over 200 programs in our community, the United Way promotes partnerships and collaborations among agencies, helping them to work together focusing on issues that continue to improve lives.
