MELBOURNE, Fla. (AP) – Authorities say a central Florida driver was confused by the directions on his GPS and ended up turning onto the path of an oncoming train.

The unidentified driver was able to jump out of his vehicle moments before it was struck Monday by a northbound Florida East Coast Railway double freight train. Florida Today (http://tinyurl.com/pynd272) reports the car was severely damaged but no injuries were reported.

A spokesman for the railway said the driver accidently turned onto the track instead of the nearby road. The crash happened around 4:40 a.m. while it was still dark and authorities said the driver may not have had good visibility.

He said the train was likely travelling around 40 and 50 mph.
