FORT MYERS, Fla.- A man accused of shooting his wife was arrested Monday morning as deputies swarmed a home on Bellair Road off of Palm Beach Boulevard. Authorities say 51-year-old Ygnacio Sanchez shot his wife at their home on Ortiz Avenue in Tice on Sunday. The Lee County Sheriff’s Office says a tip led officials to the home in the 300 block of Bellair Road where they say Sanchez and another person had barricaded themselves inside on Monday. A SWAT team was called out to the scene to bring the men out of the home. Sanchez at first refused to exit the house but eventually surrendered to authorities. The other man in the home, identified as Julio Orhena, says he was letting Sanchez stay at his home but he was unaware authorities were searching for his friend. “I see police everywhere, a lot of car police, ‘hey, don’t move!’ they called me,” said Orhena. The condition of Sanchez’s wife is unknown at this time. Sanchez could be facing a number of charges, including attempted murder.
