Bus driver drops student off at park

CAPE CORAL, Fla. – A Cape Coral mother is upset with school officials after she says her daughter’s bus driver skipped her bus stop, wouldn’t take her back, and dropped her off at Four Freedoms Park.

“That’s scary,” says Andrea Smith, the 14-year-old student’s mother. “That’s how abductions happen.  There’s really no excuse for it.”

The mother says the bus driver dropped the student off at Four Freedoms Park in Cape Coral, and then left her there alone.  The park is less than a mile from the designated stop.

Smith says, “He’s got to work with us as parents all year long. How does he think a parent is going to feel about that?”

The student attends Oasis Charter High in Cape Coral. The superintendent says the school will look at surveillance video on the bus, to try and figure out what happened.

“I want to feel like they’re safe. I don’t want to be at work, worrying about them getting dropped off at the wrong place, and not knowing how to get home,” says Smith.
