NAPLES, Fla.- Hundreds of World War II veterans celebrated an iconic moment Saturday evening. Organizers threw a party for the 70th anniversary of a famous photo titled “The Kiss,” taken in New York City at the end of World War II when the Japanese surrendered. All of the veterans are past or future members of the Collier County Honor Flight. Organizers said they could not wait until the 75th anniversary of the end of WWII because so many of the veterans from that era will be gone.
