NORTH FORT MYERS, Fla. – Southwest Florida Crime Stoppers is asking for the public’s help identifying a man who witnesses say pushed a senior citizen in a Wal-Mart parking lot, then ran off with her wallet.

Detectives say the 90-year-old woman was walking towards her car in the parking lot of the store, located at 545 Pine Island Road, around 9:30 a.m. on Friday.

Authorities say the suspect rushed up behind her, pushed the woman and then grabbed a tan wallet from the purse she was holding.

Witnesses say he ran across the parking lot and left the area in a silver two door hatchback.

The victim was not injured, but the man made off with her cash, personal identification and several of her credit cards.

“This guy was clearly looking for an easy victim and preyed upon a female senior citizen,” said Trish Routte, Crime Stoppers Coordinator. “For a younger man to stalk an elderly woman is reprehensible and we hope that someone will be able to help us quickly identify him.”

The person of interest is described as roughly 40 years old, around 6 feet tall, with a thin build.

If you have any information, call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-780-TIPS (8477). All callers will remain anonymous and will be eligible for a cash reward of up to $1,000. Tips may also be made online at www.swflcrimestoppers.org or by texting a tip to CRIMES (274637) Keyword: REWARD.
