COLLIER COUNTY, Fla.- A major crash between two trucks blocked the intersection of State Road 82 and Corkscrew Road for hours Thursday morning. It happened around 7 a.m. near the Collier County line. Florida Highway Patrol tells WINK News one truck rear-ended the other, but the cause is still under investigation. The driver of the back truck was airlifted to Lee Memorial Hospital in critical condition. The driver of the front truck did not appear to be injured. The intersection remained blocked for hours while officials struggled to get the two trucks on tow trucks to be taken away. They also put some sand on the roadway as some fuel spilled when the crash happened. Traffic was allowed around the crash in shifts but still caused major backups for drivers.
