FMPD arrests man accused of robbing Save-A-Lot

FORT MYERS, Fla.- Police arrested a man who tried to rob a Save-A-Lot store and threatened the clerk with a knife.

Joshua Johnson, 29, is being held at Lee County Jail being with no bond.

Authorities responded to the Save-A-Lot store on Cleveland Avenue around 1 p.m. Monday.

Police say a suspect wearing a blue shirt and blue pants had just taken money from the register and tried to stab the clerk with a long kitchen style knife.

Authorities found a suspect matching the description running eastbound on Moreno Avenue.

Johnson ran through several residential yards and a small wooded area before he was caught by police on Unity Avenue.

The victim was able to positively identify Johnson as the robbery suspect. Detectives say store video surveillance also depicted Johnson committing the robbery. He is being charged with one count of robbery with a weapon.
