Deputies investigate late night Lehigh Acres shooting

05/15/15 UPDATE: Deputies say the case is now a homicide after the shooting victim from Monday night has died.

The victim is identified as 37-year-old Andre Demetrick McCarter. Investigators have also located the 2012 Silver Kia Optima associated with this case.

The case remains under investigation.

LEHIGH ACRES, Fla.- Lee County deputies are investigating a shooting that happened around 10:45 p.m. Monday in Lehigh Acres. It happened on 27th Street Southwest, near Owen Avenue.

Overnight, deputies put up crime scene tape around the scene and blocked the street from Owen Avenue to Robin Avenue.

The sheriff’s office says it is looking for whoever is responsible for this shooting, and Major Crimes Detectives were called to investigate.

Family members of the victim arrived on scene and told WINK News their loved one was taken to Lee Memorial Hospital.

Deputies are also asking for your help to find a car that may have been involved in the shooting. They are looking for a 2012 Silver Kia Optima 4-door sedan with Florida license plate 730 MBB.
