Man’s arms blown off in Cape Coral explosion

CAPE CORAL, Fla. – WINK News has learned the man hurt in a Friday evening explosion was 31-year-old Justin McHenry.

Around 6:30 Friday evening, families in the Porto Vista Condos said they heard a loud explosion. Moments after, deputies and fire fighters responded to Unit 101, where they found a man hurt with at least part of his arms blown off.

“It literally shook our building,” said Kirk Tetlow. “I can’t see how the guy could even be alive still.”

As of Saturday, Lee Memorial confirmed to WINK News that McHenry was still in critical condition.

Police have not confirmed what caused the explosion. As of Saturday morning, there was a sign posted on Unit 101 that said ‘off limits to unauthorized personnel.’
