FORT MYERS, Fla.- Wawa fever has officially swept Southwest Florida!

Three stores opened their doors Thursday and they’ve been bustling since the early morning hours.

Governor Rick Scott, the Fort Myers Mayor Randy Henderson, Lee County commissioners and the CEO of Wawa were all present at the grand opening of the convenience store on Colonial Boulevard.

There was music, free food and even a sandwich making contest between Fort Myers Police and firefighters. In case you were wondering, Fort Myers Police won. But WAWA donated $1,000 to charities for both.

The opening of the three stores in Southwest Florida is bringing 120 jobs to the area.

Currently there are 65 Wawa stores open in Florida, and the company’s goal is to have 100 stores by next year.

The stores opening locally are located at:

Cape Coral, FL 33909

12701 S. Cleveland Ave
