Home explodes in Sarasota

SARASOTA, Fla. (WTSP)- At least one person was found dead inside a home that caught fire and exploded Thursday night.

“There’s at least a thousand different scenarios that could have caused this explosion,” Jansen said, adding the explosion was one of the biggest he’s seen in his career.

Firefighters are monitoring the scene for any hot spots that might still flare up. Investigators have yet to go inside the home.

The Sarasota Sheriff’s Office is trying to take leads from witnesses interviewed. The state Fire Marshal and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives have been called to help investigate.
