Lee school board delays firing Cape Coral teacher accused of abuse

Published: Updated:

LEE COUNTY, Fla.- The Lee County School Board voted to delay firing a Cape Coral teacher accused of abusing children with autism.

The superintendent made the recommendation to fire Shawna Driggers, but it did not pass.

Last year, a family filed a police report, claiming the Caloosa Elementary School teacher gave their son a black eye and abused him in class.

Since then, several other families have filed claims against Driggers.

She has been suspended without pay.
