LEE COUNTY, Fla. – Urgent care centers and emergency rooms are inundated with patients sick.

A nurse supervisor at Lee Memorial Convenient Care told WINK News people wait until after the holiday to go to the doctor. Frank Garcia told WINK News he arrived at the urgent care Friday at 10:45 a.m. and was not seen until a little after 5 p.m.

“Trying to keep my cool, it’s hard though,” he said. “Very frustrating, very frustrating. Not a good way to end the year.”

The sign-in sheet at the urgent care center warned patients Friday evening the wait could be up to seven hours. However, one lucky man said he only waited one hour.

“It was just about an hour…Considering the amount of people in there that was quick, Louis Hires said.

The nurse supervisor told WINK News they expect larger crowds throughout the weekend, and they recommend you arrive a few minutes before they open to beat the rush.

Lee Memorial Convenient Care is open 7 a.m.-7 p.m. every day of the week.
