Local theaters showing “The Interview”

FORT MYERS, Fla.- The Sony saga continues and this time with a stunning twist.

WINK News is learning Sony will now release “The Interview” to a small amount of theaters across the country, including two in Southwest Florida.

The controversial movie, starring James Franco and Seth Rogan, is about the assassination of North Korean leader Kim Jong Un.

“I believe that we should have the option, the choice,” said owner of the Edison Park 8 Cinema Jay Suarez.

“We are a country with choices, you don’t have to see it, but you are telling me that I can’t see it?” said Suarez.

Suarez was livid when Sony initially pulled the “The Interview” last week.

“The fact that they were telling us what we can see and what we can’t see. Really that’s it, I was totally pissed,” said Suarez.

WINK News was there as the marquee went up at Park 8. We also spoke to a manager at the Prado theater in Bonita Springs where tickets for the film are already on sale and are going extremely fast.

“I don’t think they should just pull it for everybody. You should have the freedom to watch it if you feel like it or not,” said James Thufaite.

“I am happy, I am happy because I don’t like the censorship and I would to go see it,” said Emilia Andrews.

But not everyone likes the idea of showing the film.

“I can’t believe an actual movie being released when there are all these threats being made that is kind of scary,” said Gerald Augustin

“It should be our choice. If you don’t want to see it, you don’t have to see it. If you want to see it, you should have the option,” said Suarez.

Both theaters plan to open the movie Christmas Day.
