Two Local 8th Grade Students from Diplomat Middle School in Cape Coral - Tisha Saylor and Dianelys Barrios, are First Place Winners not once, but twice - @ County then @ the States. Now they have a chance to represent Florida in the Nationals @ National History Day (NHD) this June in Washington, DC. The girls started their journey last year when they began putting together their National History Day Documentary "An Ordinary Hero" based on the life of Miep Gies, who hid Anne Frank, her family and four others in her attic during World War II. The girls have worked very hard to get this far... but they need money to travel to Washington to compete against students from all over the U.S., Guam, American Samoa and Europe with their teachers and family members.
