We are located about 2 miles from Ft Myers Beach and we looked up in the sky around noon today (Friday May 1) and saw this around the sun. A large grey circle around the sun with the outer edge looking like a rainbow. It lasted about 2 hours. What is it?

WOW...THIS IS THE THIRD PERSON THAT POSTED A PICTURE OF THIS. I SAW IT A COUPLEOF YEARS AGO AND NEVER HAVE SEEN IT BEFORE. I WAS ABLE TO LOOK AT IT DIRECTLY WITHOUT MY EYES BEING AFFECTED. THIS IS AMAZING AND I TOO GOT PICTURES AND DID NOT POST

On May 17th, 2009 I saw this exact image of a rainbow around the sun at Kings Island, near Cincinnati Ohio. You could look at it, and it would not hurt your eyes. And on the inside of the rainbow, there is a very dark circle, surrounded by blue sky.
