Bonita Springs Flooding

Location: Northeast Bonita Springs

Water is rising in Northeast Bonita Springs at an alarming rate. Bonita Grand Road is covered with sheet flow water now and this water is heading to Imperial Bonita Estates and points West via the Imperial River.
The video will show that the water on the South side of Imperial Bonita Estates is already up to the tops of the banks of the Imperial River and will overrun these banks in a matter of another day.
Driving down Quinn Street the water was just then starting to move across the road bringing many people out onto the street to watch it's progress. This is reminiscent of the flood of 1995 when so many homes were flooded out and people displaced for many months i this same area.
It appears that I-75 will block a lot of the sheet flow but the Imperial River will drain much of it to the West where flooding of normally dry streets and homes may occure.
Also on the South side of Bonita Beach Road and West of Imperial Parkway (Livingston Rd) the deep drainage swales are filling with water as the water drains West instead of East as it is supposed to. The massive underground concrete drain that was built when Bonita Beach Road was widened a few years ago is designed to take runnoff water from West to East dumping this water into the Imperial River behind the Flamingo Flea market. However the rising water in the Imperial River is backing up into this huge culvert and the swales are filling because the outlets for the water are smaller at the West end of the drain than at the East end. If the sheet flow continues for too much longer the South side of Bonita Springs will flood too.
I just hope that the powers that be in the Bonita Springs area are watching this and are prepared to help the citizens of this little town cope with this possible catastrophy.

We lived on Winnebago and moved to Joanne Dr recently. We are in central NY right now. IBE residents here in NY would certainly appreciate additional footage showing our park. Pictures certainly tell the story. Thanks in advance Thank
