WHAT IS THIS STRANGE BUG??????

We've seen several of these strange looking creatures on the outside (thankfully outside) of our lanai cage this week... they seem to move around by holding on with their mouth I think. Do you know what this is? Perhaps a type of stick bug? Are they dangerous to humans or pets? I know stick bugs will spray an alkaline fluid that will burn your eyes and one did spray one of my dogs last year. Please help solve this mystery. Thanx!!)
