Charlotte Harbor Yacht Club Partners with Charlotte County Habitat for Humanity

The Charlotte Harbor Yacht Club has entered into a great partnership with Charlotte County Habitat for Humanity. The CHYC members will be raising walls on a new Habitat house being built at 600 Fitzhugh St in Punta Gorda. They will all be hard at work on Saturday, August 16th, starting at 8:30 a.m.

The Charlotte Harbor Yacht Club members truly have a heart for Habitat, and that is evidenced by their commitment. The CHYC is gearing up to sponsor an exciting event on behalf of Habitat. The event, which is now in planning stages, is a benefit Golf Tournament to be held on Friday, October 24, 2008.

The full-day golf event will be held at the Kingsway County Club with 18 holes of “shotgun start, scramble format”, followed by a buffet lunch. Then the fun continues on in the evening, with an auction and cocktail reception at the Charlotte Harbor Yacht Club. The registration fee for this entire event is only $100, and you may register now by calling Charlotte County Habitat for Humanity at 941-639-3162. All proceeds from the Golf Tournament go directly into building a Habitat home, here in Charlotte County.

The Yacht Club members are hoping to get public support at the Wall Raising on August 16th, as this home is very important to the community. This is the second house to be raised as a part of the Punta Gorda Affordable Housing Initiative. This initiative was established based on four parcels of land, nine lots total, awarded to Charlotte County Habitat for Humanity, through the Community Development Block Grant funds and the County. These lots are located in the Martin Luther King Jr Blvd area, and Habitat is thrilled to be partnering with this community.

Charlotte County Habitat is very appreciative of the efforts and hard work being extended by the Charlotte Harbor Yacht Club, to provide good homes for a few more county residents.
