Video Courtesy of Chad Swinehart (Naples) Katie Nebel (Michigan). These two friends witnessed yesterday on barefoot beach in Bonita Springs a rare encounter with over 10 manatees roughly 10 to 15 ft. off the shoreline in about 1 ft. of water. For roughly 30 minutes the manatees appeared 2 be courting each other or showing off there manly desires or what would be considered mating. The large manatee in the middle believed 2 be the female and manatees around probably the males much smaller. Notice the wounds and scars on the back. This is from boaters going 2 fast in the waters not aware that manatees are large slow mammals that hang out towards the surface of the water. It is imperative for boaters to become more aware and educated of manatees habits while traveling the water ways. Manatees are endangered animals and can learn more from the conservancy in Naples.
