Workshop Series Empowers Women to Succeed in Life and Business

On the heels of its successful inaugural run, The Women’s Empowerment Series returns to Southwest Florida with a focus on leadership styles, personal life/work balance and the importance of strategic partnerships. Launched in early 2008, the WES has experienced phenomenal growth as area businesswomen seek to increase their networking and educational opportunities.

“The June WES workshops feature three keynote speakers whose accomplishments in their personal and professional lives serve as hallmarks for this community,” says WES founder Deborah Shane.

Beginning June 13, Dr. Julia East, President/CEO of the Southwest Florida Community Foundation will share her journey of merging gifts and opportunities into a rich and fulfilling, yet somewhat unexpected, life. Circle Connections, Inc. founder Ann Smith will discuss women’s unique qualities and how they contribute to leadership and networking.

On June 20, Teri Hansen, APR, President and Creative Director of award-winning Priority Marketing, will relate how she has achieved balance while attaining her goals in both her personal and professional lives.

The June Series will close on June 27th with Nancy Keefer emphasizing the power, benefit and importance of partnerships and collaborations. Keefer is President/CEO of the Bonita Springs Area Chamber of Commerce which has been awarded the prestigious five-star accreditation from the United States Chambers of Commerce. To put this accomplishment in perspective, only 29 chambers of the 6,936 member chambers across the entire United States have attained this recognition.

In addition to the valuable education and networking opportunities offered, the workshops demonstrate a “give-back” philosophy by adopting non-profit organizations to benefit from scholarships funded by the proceeds. The June speaker series will benefit The Tender Loving Care Homes for Children and Special Equestrians.

Being a fantastic mom... is that taught? Is that important in America anymore? When they say balance personal and professional, does it mean, put your kids in daycare and subjugate motherly duties for work duties? I'm glad my wife is a GREAT mom!

Being a stay-at-home mom does not automatically = being a great mom. Being a mom who works outside the home does not automatically = NOT being a great mom. Every mom is a working woman, but not every working woman is a mom.
