The right way to run a jail

Sheriff Joe Arpio of Maricopa county Arizona, has the right idea. The county was spending 18 million a year for the animal shelter. He took it over and only spends 3 million a year, mostly on utilities and buildings. The prisoners gladly take care of the animals, walk them, feed them. He has 2000 prisoners living in tents in the desert. They are the same type of tents our soldiers in Iraq live in and they didn't commit a crime. He feeds them sandwiches, that only cost $.40 a meal, and he makes them pay for them. The prisoners work and earn $.28 an hour. He took away their weights, porno magazines and cigarettes. The federal government forces him to give the prisoners cable TV, so he gives them the Disney channel and the weather channel. Our sheriff's dept could save a lot of money, by adopting some of his programs. He was just re elected by 83% of the vote, so the majority of the people like what he is doing. He has been the sheriff for 18 years and the tent city has been around, about that long. As usual the ACLU has taken him to just about every court in the land, but they have lost every time. Why does our Sheriff's dept have to treat prisoner any better. Better then a lot of the honest taxpayers live. No one gives us free medical, meals and cable TV. If anyone would like the complete story that was sent to me, I'll be glad to forward it to you.

Some of the people in Florida think that criminals tell each other of the way they were treated in prison. Most of the drug dealers running our streets not living the life that God intended are too busy making other peoples lives a living hell.

First of all we have a thing call the CPU's (Community Programs Units) these inmates work in the jail hallways, kitchens, and laundry rooms. These inmates work for extra gain time and some inmates even work on the road crews picking up trash.
