Join In On the Habitat Mission!

100TH FAMILY SERVED - Saturday April 26 at 11 am: Charlotte County Habitat for Humanity will be celebrating the House Dedication of its 100th Family-Served in our County. The House Dedication will be held on Boca Grande Blvd in Punta Gorda, across the street from the main Habitat office. At this landmark event, Charlotte County Habitat will host an Open House at the Habitat Learning House, also located on Boca Grande Blvd. The Learning House is a typical Habitat home, fully furnished and landscaped. Come join the new homeowners on their special day, and take a tour of a Habitat home. Refreshments will be provided, as well as a full program featuring a ribbon-cutting, remarks by a City official, a flag presentation by the Peace Lutheran ‘Waves of Praise’, and a musical presentation by the St Mary’s Praise and Worship Ensemble.
CALLING ALL WOMEN! Charlotte County Habitat for Humanity is hosting a “Women Build Day” on Tuesday, May 6 2008. We are actively recruiting women from all walks of life, all ages and all skill levels to be a part of the remarkable team that will work to build a home for a family in need.

Women Build is a Habitat for Humanity International program that trains women to make a difference by building homes and communities. Thousands of houses have been built by women crews around the world – more than 1,200 since Women Build’s official creation in 1998.

This is the third year, since 1999, that Charlotte County Habitat for Humanity has participated in this worldwide program, with the first Women Build house built on Duke Lane, the second built on Eblis Ave, both in Port Charlotte. This year, the Women Build volunteers will work on a house on Ambrose Lane, also in Port Charlotte.

Your volunteer efforts are needed for this build – mark your calendars and get your name on the work roster! This is a One Day Event, and you won’t want to miss out on the fun and excitement!

To participate in Women Build Day 2008, and for more information on the build site location, please contact Debbie Doran-Haynes, Development Coordinator, Charlotte County Habitat for Humanity 941-639-3162 or by e-mail at development@charlottecountyhfh.org
