My daughter is in the first grade at Bluffton Harrison Elementary. She is very tall for her age and the children at school call her " the giant". she is only seven and claims that she hates school. At the beginning of school year she pooped her pants. The children that sit with her at lunch call her names and tell her that she eats like a pig. As a result, she now is refusing to eat lunch. Recently she got off the bus and was hurt. I really do not know what happened or how she got hurt because the school never attempted to notify me. Concerned, I asked why no one was contacted. She was sent back to class with mud stains all over her pants and crying. The school has my mother's phone # and address who lives across the street, yet no one was notified. I have met with the school principal who on different occasions and he never got back with me. The nurse claims that she used her best judgement and did not think that it was necessary to contact me. My dauhter's chin swelled with bruising. In fact she bit her tongue from the impact of the fall. I wanted to be reassured from the principal that the bullying would be investigated. The pricipal's response was that it may very well be that the kids are making fun of my child, but have I ever thought that it might me because of what I pack her for lunch. I am very concerned with the way that the school system is being run. I am uncertain that I will be notified when there is an accident and feel that the bullying is getting ignored. These are pictures of the injury and I even kept her out of school the next day. My mother who is a registered nurse, says that she understands children are going to get hurt, but a parent should have been notified with an injury such as this. What is in my child's lunch box should not determine the way she is treated at school. The negative impact that bullying has on children today is the issue here.

Your childs treatment by students and school personnel alike is abominable. I spent several years teaching and would never have allowed such behavior in my jurisdiction.Children will be cruel and it gets much worse if adults do nothing to stop it.

I agree that the school system has a huge flaw when it comes to the way they handle bulling situations. My son was being teased and physicaly abused, only when the teacher's wern't watching. He would tell on them but nothing was done. LISTEN tothem

My grandson who is also 8yrs.old has sort of the same problem in Tx.He is also tall for his age and the kids in his class accuse him of being the bully.None of the other kids are ever at fault so he is the only punished.
