Habitat for Humanity Home Builders Blitz – May 2008
Coming to Charlotte County!
The first national Home Builders Blitz, a project involving professional builders in the construction of Habitat homes, was held in June 2006 and resulted in more than 400 new Habitat homes in communities across the country.

Millions of Americans face a housing crisis. In fact, 5.1 million families pay more than half of their monthly income for housing. This partnership between builders and Habitat for Humanity will make a significant change all across America.

Here in our community, Home Builders’ Blitz 2008 is a partnership with Charlotte County Habitat for Humanity and the local building industry, to construct five homes in seven days, with the kick-off of the event on May 12, 2008. Charlotte County Habitat will provide the land, complete all pre-construction work and supply all the materials for the build. The builders and sub-contractors will donate their energy, expertise and labor to complete the homes from framing to finish. Through their hard work and industry expertise, the builders participating in the Home Builders Blitz 2008 will make the contribution of a completed home, a reality for a family in need.

“Bringing professional home builders into Habitat’s work is a natural project for a housing ministry,” said Kevin Campbell, director of the national Home Builders Blitz. “The builders will augment the excellent work done every day by Habitat volunteers around the world, which will help Habitat serve even more families in need.”
