The Kiwanis Club of Greater Pine Island will hold the Taste of Pine Island on Sunday, Jan. 27 from 11 a.m. until 5 p.m. The event will take place at Phillips Park on Pine Island Road behind the Pine Island Fire Station.
The annual event will feature over 40 local restaurants and craft vendors including Moretti’s Seafood Restaurant, Waterfront Restaurant & Marina, Lazy Flamingo Restaurant and The Matlacha Oyster House. In conjunction with The Kiwanis Taste of Pine Island, the fourth annual Southwest Florida Chowder Cook-off Contest and the Fish Drop Drawing will also be held. The day’s events are family friendly with live music and children’s activities. Tickets are five dollars and children 10-and-under are free. Event planners expect over 3,000 to attend.
The Taste of Pine Island is the primary fundraiser for the Kiwanis Pine Island Youth Scholarship Fund. This year the club hopes to raise over $15,000 at the event to assist Pine Island students with their higher education costs. Since 1985, the Kiwanis Club of Greater Pine Island has provided over $100,000 in scholarships.
