Clewiston welcomes home local hero

Hendry County and the City of Clewiston welcomed home local Iraqi war hero Joel Morero. Morero, SPC, U.S. Army, received a Purple Heart citation for injuries sustained in a bombing in Iraq in which the vehicle he was commanding suffered numerous blasts from explosions. Two of his comrades were killed in the attack. He had been receiving physical therapy in Texas, and arrived in Florida on this afternoon. A convoy of veterans from Hendry County met Morero in Lake Placid and escorted him to Clewiston. Friends and relatives lined US 27 upon hi arrival.
