red shoulder hawk?

"Perry" has been hanging around my property. I putter in the yard every morning, and talk to him. He calls for me now. Yesterday, I called out his name and he flew over me and landed on the telephone wire in front of me. I have been told he is young, about 9 months old. Any info about the hawk, would be appreciated. Mary

Perry is a beauty! I am pretty sure it is a red shoulder hawk.

I also have had a young red shoulder hawk in close vacinity to me in Golde Gate Estates. Do you ever feed it? I would love to develope a relationship with another animal,,,but to do so with a wild bird would be hard becuase I have ornithophobia!
