Marlins 8, Mets 7

By The Associated Press

MIAMI (AP) - Dan Uggla hit the game-winning RBI double in the bottom of the tenth as the Florida Marlins beat the stumbling New York Mets 8-7.

Coupled with Philadelphia's win at Washington, the Mets' NL East lead over the Phillies is down to one and a-half games.

The Mets scored four in the top of the ninth for a 7-4 lead but the Marlins scored three against Jorge Sosa in the bottom half to tie it.

The Marlins pulled to within one on David Wright's throwing error and tied it on Matt Treanor's RBI groundout.

Marlon Anderson had a three-run triple in the Mets' four-run ninth.

Taylor Tankersley pitched the tenth for the win. He's 6-and-1. Sosa fell to 9-and-8.

The Mets NL East lead was seven games on September 12th, but they've lost six of their last seven.
