The ECHL will realign the American Conference into three four-team division for the upcoming season. The Florida Everblades will remain in the South Division with Charlotte, Gwinnett and South Carolina.

The league has also amended the playoff system slightly. Eight teams from the American Conference will make the playoffs (division winners seeded first, second and third), and the first round of the playoffs will be a best-of-five series in a 2-3 format. The team with the higher seeded will choose whether they want the first two or last three games on home ice. Playoff opponents can agree to play a 2-2-1 format if they are within 350 miles of each other.
